2011 Flugtag announced!!!!

Alright, Fear The Beer fans . . .  Red Bull finally announced their East Coast events for 2011.  October 8th, 2011 will see Team Beer Connoisseur breaking records.  We will be learning from last year's 'failure'.  By failure, I mean that we didn't win.  We will be working 'upping' our creativity score and most importantly . . . building a STRONGER WING!!!!  Last year we broke our wings, this year . . .we'll be breaking records!

Here's what happened last year:

9 ft High Beer is Complete!

Had my brother, Tim, stand next to our 9 ft high rolling (soon to be flying) BEER MUG!  We still need to add some vinyl logos and our beer quote, but other than. . . the Beer Mug is done.  Will be testing our glider at a hill in Kennesaw on Wednesday. Keep your  fingers crossed!

We’re Team #13 . . . AGAIN!!!

Just heard that we were given lucky #13 again!  I know . . . I know. . . 13 is an unlucky number.  However, when it comes to Fear the Beer . . . 13 is the winning number.  We were given #13 at last year's soap box race and we were able to claim that number again.  Watch out people . . . FEAR THE BEER is back!

My last goodbye to our soap box!

Memories from Last Year’s Awesome Win!!

Started trash talking because some of the other teams who were getting a little to cocky for their own good.  So, I decided to remind them who was the reigning champion from last year's Atlanta Red Bull Soap Box Race.  I ran across this picture and it brought back a ton of good memories as well as some deep down dogged determination to win again.  Peace & Beer!

Nice Trophy, Eh?

Want to see 3 guys sewing

Yep.   Turns out we had  to start the wing covering over.  Sure Seam Glue didn't work, duct tape didn't work . . . so we decided on sewing, duct tape, plastic mold and metal screws.  We may have over engineered the covering, but we won't have to redo it AGAIN.  We probably invested 4 days on covering alone and I'm thrilled to know that we are done!  We "test flew" our glider by running across the yard.  I have some video, but I'll save that for another post!  Peace & Beer.

What the heck is a spool?

Soap Box has been Retired at Atlanta Brewing!

My last goodbye to our soap box!

Last night, we held a goodbye party to our rolling mashtun.  She has served us well.  I personally will miss her during family get togethers.  She gladly rolled everyone down the hill behind Bob and Kim's house giving everyone a small thrill.  She goes out on top . . . undefeated.  So here's to you rolling mashtun of glory.  Peace & Beer.

Hi Everyone!

It's another day closer to July 10th when the world's largest flying beer mug will be launching of a 30ft pier in Miami!  We are doing a few things in public so everyone can share in our experience, so here's the list:

1.  Our winning Soap Box will be retired at Atlanta Brewing June 2, 2010.  You can see all event details here.
2.  Our 10 ft high Beer Mug will be painted by local artist, Shea Vickery, at our beer festival June 12, 2010.  All crazy event details at www.beerconnoisseurfestival.com.

Will we see you there?  Peace & Beer!
